92045 - In Flanders' Fields Vol. 45 - Piet Swerts (°1960)
Listen

Piet Swerts's music succeeds splendidly in building a bridge between tradition and our own time. His warm, passionate and highly lyrical language charms everyone into an intensive experience of the whole range of human feelings. Both compositions on this CD are near the composer's heart.

- Clarinet Quintet*
- 2nd String Quartet

Roeland Hendrikx, clarinet
Tempera String Quartet*

Spiegel String Quartet

Press reviews:
This will be a must for all collectors of mainstream contemporary chamber music. Warm, passionate and often beautifully lyrical (the fourth movement Elegia has a still beauty rarely found in contemporary music
(Jeff Joneikis - Records International - USA - December 2005

As amply demonstrated by the two chamber works recorded in this recent Phaedra release, his music is characterised by a remarkable formal and instrumental mastery as well as by a great expressive strength. Here is a composer who has things to say and who knows how to say them, regardless of any current trends and fashions. Both pieces receive polished and dedicated performances. The young ladies of the Tempera Quartet support Roeland Hendrikx's immaculate playing with aplomb and conviction, whereas the Spiegel Quartet obviously have the full measure of the emotionally complex Second String Quartet. Wholeheartedly recommended.
